In my last post I explored the relevance of teachers developing the confidence to approach new technologies with an inquiring, open mind and learning about the technology within a context that is connected to their current classroom practice.

i never had a lecturer who was that tidy. on the topic tho, this is a good eye opener on whats possible. at the moment i dont want my nine year old daughter on twitter, so would i let my class of nine year olds in also..... not sure but there are ways around this, great post, good info
ReplyDeleteYes that's what interests me... "a good eye opener on what's possible". I want to look past considering the use of titter with 9 year olds (BTW I am with you on that one), to teacher actions, how they consider technology integration and explore its impact on both their teaching and their students' learning. How does what you see in this clip reflect e-Learning and effective pedagogy? How can we better support teachers to learn and participate confidently in this environment whether their students be 9 or 19?
ReplyDeleteGood for her - sounds like it is really effective. Where complications arise is when folk watching things like this overlook some important incidentals eg, the age of these students, the size of the class (90), the curriculum application etc etc and just take 'twitter in the classroom - great' from it!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should be discussing 9 yr olds. Yesterday I had a request on Twitter (my a/c is private) from a class of 9 yr olds in Auckland. What was the teacher thinking? I felt mean as I clicked decline but; 1. I am a boring follow for anyone, let alone 9 yr olds 2. I don't want to monitor my tweets thru a 9 yr old filter 3. what were those kids going to get from following me anyway?
